Cabo Pulmo is a small village located sixty miles up the coast from the tip of Baja California Sur, Mexico, where the Sea of Cortez blends with the Pacific Ocean. Cabo Pulmo features the best diving and snorkeling in Baja, with one of the only living coral reef systems on the west coast of North America.
The reef and the surrounding waters have been designated a National Marine Park and are home to over 300 species of colorful tropical fish. Deeper waters bordering the Park offer superb fishing for dorado, tuna, wahoo, marlin and more! They are just a short boat ride away. You can relax on secluded white sand beaches and enjoy breathtaking views while you safely swim in Cabo Pulmo’s reef-protected bay.
Three dive shops offer guided tours and equipment for diving and snorkeling. You can rent kayaks or book a morning of sport fishing including panga, captain and gear. Kayaking southward along the rugged coastline to Los Frailes Point brings you to a resident colony of sea lions. Several times a year migrating Humpback or Blue Whales can be seen from Cabo Pulmo beaches as they spout, leap and play. Observe them close-up from local pangas. Windsurfers converge during the winter months to enjoy world-class windsurfing conditions.
Hiking trails in the adjacent Sierra La Trinidad Mountains offer up-close views of stately Cordon cacti and numerous other desert flora as well as an extraordinary variety of wild birds. Maintained by local enthusiasts, one trail provides an excellent single-track course for mountain bikers, and is also popular with hikers who appreciate the incredible vistas of mountains, valleys and the Sea of Cortez. Several great surf spots can be found approximately 20 miles south of Cabo Pulmo.
In addition, several restaurants in Cabo Pulmo offer a variety of dining experiences. Tito’s and El Caballero feature traditional Mexican menus.
